Driving in Austria
Austria has an excellent road network and plenty of scenic routes to take. Motoring regulations are quite strict and rigorously enforced so be warned!
Breathtaking vistas are common as you travel the highways of Austria. You can drive in the Alps, cruise along the Danube and visit ancient castles in this centrally located country.

| Motorways | If you use Austrian motorways (“Auto bahn”) and "S" roads you must display a Motorway Vignette on the inside of the wind shield of your vehicle as you enter Austria. Failure to have one will mean a heavy, on-the-spot fine. Motorway Vignettes are obtainable at all major border crossings into Austria and at larger petrol stations. |

The main motoring organisations in Austria are ÖAMTC and ARBÖ. They offer a variety of insurance cover, breakdown assistance and other services to members.
