Travel by Sea

More than 45 million ferry journeys are now taken to and from Britain to the Continent, Republic of Ireland and on British domestic routes - ferry travel is often the easiest, simplest, cheapest and quickest way of reaching your destination.

The only limit on the amount of luggage you can take with you is the capacity of your car, caravan or trailer. Whether you pack it neatly in a suitcase or just throw it in the boot at the last minute, it will be within reach, all the time.

Which road you take to reach your destination is your choice. If you want to get there quickly, take a motorway. If not, then choose to meander on un-crowded B roads through the beautiful, varied and extraordinary countryside of Europe from Norway to Greece. You also have a choice of gateways as in many cases your final destination can be reached by a variety of different routes and sailings.

The ferry industry has revolutionised in the last ten years with the introduction of the fast ferry concept. The majority of routes now offer a choice of vessels and facilities to suit all passenger requirements and time frames.

If you want to take the pet dog take it. The new Pets Passport scheme could not be easier provided you travel by ferry. Unlike so many airlines, our members have all welcomed the measure which, for the first time, has meant that the whole family -- pets and all can take a holiday together without having to worry about kennels or quarantine.
