VISAS
In most cases your travel agent will be able to advise you on the visas you will need to obtain for your trip. However, for work visas abroad you will need to do more work.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website is a good place to start when researching visa requirements. It provides a wealth of solid and helpful information. www.fco.gov.uk.
www.visafirst.com has information on obtaining work visas for different countries, including Australia and New Zealand. Also look at www.immi.gov.au for Australian visas and www.immigration.govt.nz for New Zealand.
www.visapro.com is a site dealing with U.S. immigration information including assistance for work permits and visas as well as citizenship and permanent residency.
EmbassiesIn the planning stages, research and make a note of the local embassies in the places you will be staying. Remember that your embassy is there as your connection to home and to assist you if you should lose your passport or encounter any other serious problems. The embassies or high commission offices are usually located in the capital city, but smaller cities may have consulate offices. Some useful sites to make a note of are: www.countryconnect.co.uk which gives a lot of useful information and a link through to contact information for tourist offices and consulates in any part of the world. www.embassyworld.com has a comprehensive database of embassies throughout the world. www.escapeartist.com is another site worth checking out for its wealth of information.
